Today, March 31, is World Backup Day! I would like to make you aware of some backup policies that you should be following in case of a disaster. Either man-made or from nature.
The 3-2-1 Rule
- 3 – You should have 3 copies of your data
- 2 – Two different types of media, such as an external hard drive and the cloud (actual backup service)
- 1 – At least one copy of your data should be held off-site or in case of disaster.
If you have an external drive and a cloud backup, you have fulfilled numbers 3, 2, and 1!
Why is this important?
- Data Protection: Protects against data loss, hardware failures, human errors, and even cyberattacks.
- Disaster Recovery: The offsite copy ensures that you can recover your data even if the hard drive on your computer fails
- Business Continuity: You can minimize downtime and ensure recoverability of the data.
We can help you set up a backup plan. Yes, it is needed, even if you are just a residential user. It would be a shame to lose the pictures that you have stored on your system!
