beware of facebook scams

Has Your Facebook Been Hacked?

Have you ever run across a duplicate copy of your Facebook account? Are your friends and family getting new request for them to be added to “your account”?

Your account was not necessarily hacked. Scammers are duplicating and creating FAKE Facebook accounts using your name, photo, and PUBLIC information. Yes they are DUPLICATING your account and it looks just like your current one.

They will then send a real request out to friends and family to friend “you”.

After they then have the friends and family as friends, they usually will then send out an urgent message that they are in trouble and need to send money to help you. This usually results in YOUR contacts, now their friends too, feeling like there is an urgent need to help you out or share personal information, depending on the type of message they send.

Common things that these scammers are looking for are money, additional personal information about you or your friends, sending your friends to scam websites, and possibly their log on information.

What to Do if You’ve Been Cloned

Tell your friends and family right away so they do not accept new friend requests from you.

Have your friends and family report the hack right away.

How You Can Protect Yourself from Being Cloned

To begin with make sure you have not already been cloned. Go search for yourself.

Make EVERYTHING private that you can. Your friends list and all photos, videos, and information. That way, non-friends can not use anything to create these fake accounts.
