Have you ever been a victim of credit card fraud? There are some miscellaneous charges on your account that you have no idea where they came from? Just to find out that your card was compromised?
I see it all the time. Aside from the tech support scams, we have helped a few people set their systems right from credit card fraud. Making sure that the problem was not with their system, but with another company having been compromised.
I have a very easy solution for you. Don’t use a credit card! Just kidding.
We use a service called Privacy. What is nice about Privacy is that each merchant gets their own virtual card. They can’t tell the difference, but it makes a huge difference for you:
- The card is merchant locked. This means that if the card is stolen, it can only be used at the merchant it was stolen from.
- You don’t have to change your cards with everyone once your card is compromised. Like I said earlier, each merchant gets their own card.
- Cancel subscriptions easily. You can PAUSE or CLOSE a card from the dashboard. This will prevent the company from billing the card.
- Set spending limits. You can set how much you want to be charged to the card. You can set a limit for each time, monthly or total.
- Create burner cards. Create a 1 time use card. I use it to order pizza. That way there can be only 1 charge to the card at the limit I choose.
