AI Malware

In our last email, we talked a little about AI and how you may be fooled by it. Today we are going to discuss some cyberattacks that are ongoing.

Apple Users

You are still susceptible to virus and malware attacks!

Currently, threat actors are pushing forward with malvertising. That is using fake ads on Bing and Google to have you click them and download the malware instead of what you were thinking you were downloading.

These attacks are VERY SPECIFIC to Mac users. AI now being in the mix, they are able to create and execute many of the attacks, and are likely to become more prevalent.

Never click on the first search results that come up. I know I have said that before, but even more so now. Never click on the ones that say “advertisement” or “ad” next to them.

Android Users

You have it worse now.

Phishing attacks are on Android even worse than it has been in the past. Thousands upon thousands of apps are not really what they seem. They are designed to evade security measures and steal credentials.

In 2024, the research by Malwarebytes, there are over 22,800 of these apps that are phishing apps. 22,800! That is a staggering number!

Of these 22,800 apps, there are 5,200 that are capable of pulling the One Time Passwords from SMS.

The phishing apps act the same way the phishing emails do in that they trick you into submitting your usernames and passwords via the app to the “real site” then capture your 2FA codes to log in for you. Once they have this, there is no stopping them in committing ID fraud and other types of cyberattacks.
