10 Cybersecurity Awareness Month Tips

The month of October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Please take a second to check yourself over and make sure you are practicing good cybersecurity hygiene with these 10 tips!

  1. Use a password manager
  2. Use complex and unique passwords on every site – use a password manager
  3. DO NOT open that attachment or click on that link! – Is the email from a trusted source? Always double check if you were not expecting an attachment or link.
  4. Ensure you have a trusted antivirus solution installed – NOT just Windows Defender
  5. If you are not a client, please make sure you are updating regularly!
  6. Be wary of the first handful of results in your Google Search. DO NOT click on the ads! There are a lot of bad actors that will purchase the ad spaces to lure you in.
  7. Call us if you get a “Computer Locked, Call Microsoft” screen. It is a scam!
  8. Be careful to check the email address that an email is coming from before you click on the payment link. Do this by hovering over or looking to the right of the FROM email. If the @ does not match the company, IT IS A BAD email. Please do not click on its contents.
  9. Do Not “unsubscribe” link. I know it is a pain to get the emails, but mark them as junk and let them go to the junk mailbox. – There have been some bad unsubscribe links out there now.
  10. Make sure you have a good tech in your pocket in case you run into trouble!
